Attention Hiphop Heads: Check Out This Conscious New Music Bamboo’s Baby Brother Kimya Has Featured In!

KRS 1 once said that if indeed hiphop can be blamed for it’s negative impact on youth everywhere, then it can infact have a positive impact aswell. I agree. If you don’t agree, then you need to put down the Lil Wayne garbage you’ve been listening to down and open your ears and eyes.

And in the same breathe, i would like to give you this new musical offering called “Common Mwananchi” by Smalls Lethal. The track as the title suggests is about the world as seen by the two eyes of a common Kenyan citizen.

As Kimya puts it, “No cotton candy music here people, just truth.” The track talks about the life of a common hustler who has to deal with more than just the rigours of his life; he has to deal with corrupt police as well.

The lyrical content is gritty. The delivery raw. Smalls Lethal isn’t overshadowed by Kimya the veteran, he actually hold his own which is pretty impressive. I once said i missed the days of gritty Kenyan hiphop but clearly this lot is holding it down like a clip to a tie! Have a listen to the track for yourself:
