Banned Homosexual Kenyan Movie “Story of Our Lives” Wins a Prestigious International Award

The Kenya Film Classification Board is known for nothing more than the over sensational banning of movies.

Something which has made them very unpopular among the Kenyan masses, they are the Debby Downers, the buzzkills if you will. In a bid to try and become the moral gatekeepers, the board really encourages piracy and  kills Kenyan talent in the process.

In October last year, the board restricted the distribution and exhibition Stories of Our Lives a film directed by Jim Chuchu after declaring that the movie had “obscenity, explicit scenes of sexual activities and it promotes homosexuality which is contrary to our national norms and values”

But all is not lost for the creators of the movie as they recently won the Teddy Special Jury Award after screening of the movie at the Panorama section at the Berlinale Film Festival, which ran from 5 to 15 February.
