BEEF! Collo, Octopizzo On The Receiving End Again

The beef season is here once again; this time pitting a budding artist from the lakeside of Kisumu, Jamtaa, against Collo, Octopizzo and all other self-proclaimed hiphop heads.

According to the artist, the move is aimed at “bringing sanity and respect to the Kenyan hiphop”. “I get so annoyed at how disrespectful the likes of Collo and Octopizzo crown themselves rap and hiphop kings respectively just because of a few hits under their belt,” ranted Jamtaa.

Confessing that he admires Octoppizo’s hustle, Jamtaa however says that it’s rather annoying and disrespectful to diehard hiphop fans for Octopizzo to claim that he is the king after only a year in the game.

“Collo claims to be the best rapper in Kenya but can u compare his flow to Kaligraph’s or maybe Kayvo k-force?,” poses Jamtaa adding, “The answer is a big NO!” He also alludes that Collo only came to the limelight after Nyanshinski left the group (Kleptomaniax) and the country. “Klepto was carried [sic] by Nyanshinski otherwise why did it fall after he left coz I remember Collo and Roba making fluke joints after that as Klepto but it was over for them,” indicates the Kisumu hiphop tsar.

He also quickly points out that, all said and done, for any true hiphop fan, the true hiphop kings in Kenya are KALAMASHAKA, K-SOUTH, UKOO FLANI, MAUMAU and the other founding groups. According to Jamtaa these legends made great hiphop tracks at a time when there was no money in the game, no channels to market their music and a very small hiphop fan base. It was an artist’s skill and dopeness of style that sold them to them fans.
“Remember PUNCHLINE KIBAO, DANDORA LOVE, DC NA SISI, NAIROBERY, NAIROBISM? Play those tracks and you’ll still get people dancing to them,” imparted Jamtaa adding, “So tell Octopizzo VOWELS is a year old but already out of the market. NO SHELF LIFE! To be a hiphop king u need to be diverse and have survived the test of time.”

He also stated that Collo and Octopizzo are a thousand miles behind the likes of KITU SEWER, LABALAA, ABBAS, BAMBOO, ZAKAH (WENYEJI) and JULIANI. Listen to Jamtaa’s diss track below;
