Camp Mulla Producer Explains Why Their Album Didn’t Do So Well
Camp Mulla producer K-Cous was in a OneFM interview the day before yesterday with Tina Kaggia and JB. He took the opportunity to release his hot new weed song, “How High,” and also answer some questions about Camp Mulla as a group.
Tina questioned him about the performance of Camp Mulla’s first album ‘Funkytown.’ If you can remember, they caused a big stir amongst the youth when they declared that they would be selling the album for 250 bob. Also, they had signed a distribution deal with Universal, which looked like an entry into the land of milk and honey in terms of getting international recognition for their album.
Despite all these factors aligning for them, K’Cous said that the album didn’t do so well, because of distribution and promotion issues. He said, “by the time album was coming out, we didn’t have any promoters, except Safaricom.”
Looks like the Universal deal didn’t pan out like many had hoped. But Cous seems to have learned from the mistakes they made with Funkytown, as his next statement was, “by the time we’re doing a second album, we should have a promoter.”
By the way, did you know that Tina Kaggia and JB are engaged to be married? Srsly.
