For some time now, Kiss 100’s radio queen, Caroline Mutoko has been on the forefront championing for peaceful elections not only on her radio show but also on her Facebook page. After writing a hard-hitting open letter to the nation, Mutoko is back again with another address to you the voter.

This is for the Lost Votes.

We do not vote to brag and domineer over bar tables.

We vote so that we can tell our jaded brother, our jaded sister… “Stand up!”, that they may do the same for us when our hour of apathy arrives. We are legion. Their numbers grow fewer. Our numbers grow ever larger.

We are the Lost Votes, the votes who do not look back over their shoulders in panic and anxiety, to see how many of their tribe herd behind them. We are the Lost Votes, looking up, eyes clear on what is needed from us for this Nation; moving forward with melancholic hope, and a conviction that strains but never falters.

We are the Lost Votes,

shaken and afraid that we may not see the change we hunger for in our lifetimes, but we are certain that our children will grow up with our values.

We are the dispassionate listeners, the firm followers. We are believers in the system, while others fear their brothers.

Though we choose different leaders, we, the Lost Votes, share a common thread; That ALL born can better their situations.

“Don’t throw away your vote”, they say.

We are the lost votes, thrown away, down a hole. We are the foolish believers, the children amongst “professors of politics”. We are the long-sight. We are the impossible. They are the convenient. We are the dreamers, they have trouble sleeping. We are the Long-Sight, we are the future.

KIYIAPI will lose the election. PETER will lose the election. MARTHA will lose the election. But, we are the Lost Votes! We do not vote to win. We vote that they may hear us.
