Charged Artists Block Kimathi Street To Storm Nation Center In Numbers Crying Like Babies Denied Mommy’s Milk (Photos)
Kenyan artists are a pissed off lot, ready to slice open someone’s guts for messing with their source of daily bread!
So yesterday there were demonstrations in the city organized by elite Kenyan artist who couldn’t take baloney no more. They have been taken for a ride a number of times, no more talk just action!
“How dare you favor foreign content over our nice crafted music?” That was their query, the reason why they pimped placards and decided to cause a fuss in the CBD.
Apparently media was their target, playing Chris Brown, P Square and Diamond’s songs instead of filling the airwaves with themes like ‘nadandia tu kama mat…’ ‘riswa hayo ni mapepo…’ or better, ‘…moto ya kuotea mbali…’
These charged artists and other stakeholders in music industry are demanding 70% airplay from local media similar to what happens in Tanzania and Nigeria.
How well could they hammer their message other than storming Nation Center? Well, NMG is just a stone throw from our office so we managed to catch the whining artists in their moment of truth.
