Classic 105, KISS 100 and co. Make Over 800 Million A Year
A while back, Aly-Khan Satchu, a leading financial analyst in Kenya, interviewed Patrick Quarcoo and William Pike, the founders of Radio Africa(the company that owns KISS 100, Classic FM, East FM, X FM, and others) during the renowned Mindspeak conference.
During that interview, they revealed a lot of details that were unknown to most people, including their anticipated revenues for the 2009-2010 financial year. Patrick Quarcoo said:
“So how do we do? This is not something I’m supposed to show you, but that’s how we’ve been doing. We’ve been growing very nicely. We’re looking to do about 600-800 million this year. Why did we get into the radio business in this country?… We are in the business for the money, OK? Let no one fool you.”
That interview being done a while back, means that we can now safely assume that they have crossed the 800million shilling revenue threshold. PQ attributed much of their success to having A-list presenters on their team, like Shaffie Weru, Caroline Mutoko and Maina Kageni.
