Today is a very special day to Ciku Muiruri. Her daughter has just clocked 18, she is now suited to hold a national ID. All those with hidden agendas can now… Team Mafisi alert!

Well, the excited Ciku took to the social media to wax lyrical about her 18-year-old daughter. She says her daughter is everything good that exists in our dear planet earth.

Even though we all know that can’t be true, Ciku used all adjectives you can think of to heap praise on her ‘saint’ daughter.

But then again she is just being a mother! That’s what they do or is it not!!

18 years ago today at 7:30am after 13 hours of labour, a baby girl was placed in my arms. I smiled, the first smile I could muster after so many hours of pain. The definition of labour is to work hard and make great effort. I have never forgotten those 13 hours. Waaah! But I will say this; the product of my womb would make me do it all over again. I would endure 48 hours, 72, even more, happily break all labour records to have that baby girl in my arms.

She has brought me nothing but joy since that day. She is smart, humorous, God fearing, supportive, cheerful, comforting, articulate, assertive, calm, capable, confident, conscientious, courteous, exuberant, diligent, dignified, determined, elegant, faithful, gentle, genuine, gifted, honest, humble, helpful, likeable, loveable, mature, kind, inspiring, logical, perceptive, passionate, peaceable, modest, gracious, protective, scholarly, thoughtful, trustworthy and wise.

My dear, beautiful child, you have grown into an extraordinary woman. Looking forward to popping open a bottle of champagne and toasting to your adulthood. Yes, you can have as much as you want momma, you are now legal!!!!

God gave us a special bond. In His generosity He gave us more than love, which is enduring, He also gave us the gift of friendship. I love you so very much, my trusted friend.
