Daddy Owen Wins MAMA Award

daddy owenDaddy Owen has won the MAMA Award for Best Anglophone Artist. This was a day of firsts, not only for Daddy Owen himself, but for the African music industry as a whole. No one could put it better than Daddy Owen himself, who had this to say after winning the prestigious prize:

Glory be to Jesus! The first gospel artist to present an award.. to perform… to be nominated… and to win the MTV MAMA AWARDS 2010! Thank you so much guys for voting and I love you all! I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!

Seems like his gamble to sacrifice the Kenya Live tour for the sake of the MAMAshas paid off. All the best to him, as an international award like this could serve as a platform to bigger things in the future. Just ask KORA award-winner DNG.
