Enough of the Unending Debate, Octopizzo is The King of Rap and This is Why
For a long time, there has been an unending debate as to who is the king of rap music in Kenya, however much you may argue, I have compelling evidence as to why Octopizzo is the king.
If three of the top secular rappers are placed in a ring to battle it out musically, who do you think will come out as the winner? Just in case you have no idea of who the three rappers are, then I am talking about Octopizzo, Khaligraph Jones and Rabbit. Unfortunately other rappers didn’t appear don’t really count much.
If you are a hip hop enthusiast, then you probably know Khaligraph Jones is said to be one of East Africa’s leading hip hop lyricists. That is a fact that even I can’t dispute, but is it enough to make him the king of hip hop in Kenya? Before anyone is crowned the king, various other factors must be considered as well.

I bet if Khaligraph was to jump onto a cypher with Octopizzo, he would definitely outdo him as Jay Z will also be outshined by Nas were they to face off in a cypher. The irony is that Jay Z is widely considered by the media as the king of hip hop in the states yet there are far much better rappers than him in the industry. Same thing is happening in Kenya today, as much as Khaligraph’s lyricism maybe good, Octopizzo is just on the other level.

Rabbit is the other rapper whose music has been doing well but his best is not good enough to earn him the much prestigious crown. Rabbit came to the scene with hits that rumbled the music showbiz, unfortunately he somehow lost his mojo somewhere along the way, things haven’t been so good as compared to his heydays. He might be one of the few rappers (excluding Jay A) to participate in Coke Studio but then again Octoppizo featured in Guinness’ Made of Black advert. It seems everything he does, Octopizzo does it even better.

So why is Octopizzo the king of rap in Kenya? Numbers, yes, they say numbers don’t lie, the same numbers have made Octopizzo the king. Having analyzed the best songs uploaded by the three rappers on YouTube, Octopizzo far leads the two by the number of views his songs have received.

In terms of numbers Octopizzo leads.
The other field where Octopizzo is also leading is wealth accumulation; Rabbit and Khaligraph’s worth can’t match Octopizzo’s. The money Octopizzo has made since he launched his music career can best be explained by the kind of live he is currently living. It is hard to come out with the exact figure of how much he is worth but one thing for sure, Rabbit and Khaligraph’s wealth is no match to Octopizzo’s.
To end this conversation, just like Jay Z is the king of hip hop in America, Octopizzo is the king of rap in Kenya. If you have contrary opinion better have supporting evidence. According to me, Octopizzo is the undisputed king of rap in Kenya, that is my opinion, I am entitled to one by the way.
