For Those Who Missed It: This Is What Went Down At the Coke Studio Africa Viewing Party (Photos)

An exclusive Coke Studio Africa viewing party was held yesterday at the rooftop of Sankara Hotel.

The event was graced by the CSA Kenyan representatives Wangechi and Elani. The African Bantu Bamboo was also at the event which was Emceed by Homeboyz Radio presenter Mwalimu Rachel.

The same day “Reason” a special mash-up featuring NE-YO, Wangechi (Kenya), Alikiba (Tanzania), Maurice Kirya (Uganda), Dama Do Bling (Mozambique) and Ice Prince (Nigeria) was released.

NE-YO who has collaborated with a host of award-winning musicians and songwriters, has several global hits under his wing including Let Me Love You, Beautiful Monster, Coming With You and She Knows featuring Juicy J during the recording said, “It’s a true honor to return to Africa and celebrate artists from all over the continent. By creating this musical fusion through Coke Studio Africa, people of all races, ethnicities and religion will come together through this remarkable opportunity.”

Coke Studio Africa Season 3 which has been airing for the past two months tasked artists with a unique format of mash-ups.

Locally, the Kenyan artists who have featured in the show this season include Jua Cali who mashed up with Yemi Alade, Elani with Chidinma, Sauti Sol with Ice Prince and Avril with M.I.

Grammy Award winning musician and producer Zwai Bala of ground-breaking South African Kwaito group TKZee is the new show’s music director while Brett Lotriet, a renowned International TV director and producer is working as the series producer. The musicians along with a highly talented house band will this season present new tracks produced by both local and international producers.

Some of the producers include Jaaz Odongo, Eric Musyoka and Kevin Provoke from Kenya, Cobhams Asuquo, Masterkraft and Chopstix from Nigeria, Owour Arunga from USA, Nahreel from Tanzania and Silvastone from the UK. With this pool of music geniuses this show will take music production on the continent to a whole new level.
