Forget Moi Day. Citizen Celebrates its 10th Birthday Today
While you’re sitting there hoping the 10th of October was still a holiday, the top media house in the country, Citizen TV, celebrates its 10th birthday today.
The television network won the ratings war by focusing strongly on putting local content in the air. This also crossed in its radio stations where they own a lot of the vernacular radio stations.
Royal Media Services was the first media company to run a licensed private radio station in Kenya when started Radio Citizen in 1998. Royal Media Services has now grown to 11 radio stations, a television station and a three-unit state of the art outside broadcasting division catering to their television and radio live broadcasts.
Citizen is the home of some of Kenya’s highest rated TV shows like Mother-In-Law, Inspekta Mwala and the hugely popular Tusker Project Fame.
