Forget The Noisemakers, Here Are The 10 Celebrities Making REAL Money In Kenya Right Now

Back in the day, parents often discouraged their children from venturing into a career in entertainment. Parents would be willing to part with an arm and a leg rather than allow their children to pursue a career in what they called clowning (comedy), acting or music.

But now, times have changed and people are now recognizing that working in the entertainment industry can actually be a source of immense wealth.

Here are some people making mad money in the entertainment Industry:

1.Maina Kageni

Job: Radio Presenter (Classic 105 breakfast show) MC

Source of Wealth: Salary;According to a few sources from Radio Africa, Maina reportedly carries home 3.6 Million Kshs, an amount that would take some of us years to earn.

In addition Maina also MCees at Corporate events most notably KQ, and we all know that corporate events are cash cows.

2.Sauti Sol

They have rocked our airwaves with their sweet mélange of warm resonant pop and traditional Kenyan influences for a while now. And the group has gotten major mileage following their win at MTV EMA where they were declared Best African act.

Apart from royalties earned from their songs, Sauti Sol are believed to be raking in big money through performances. Virtually every event has these foursome rocking the stage. From Koroga, to the High Tea event where entrance fee was 6000 to a Lux event last year. The boys are raking in big bucks.

 

3.Eric Omondi

 

 

He started off his career at the Churchill Show, but the young man from Daystar University has grown into a big man who can hold his own .Eric gets  his money from his sold out ‘Eric Omondi Untamed ’ shows ,OLX ads and live performances such as at the Sports Pesa Festival

4.Jalang’o


He forms one half of the duo that brings us Maisha Asubuhi which according to an IPSOS synovate survey is one of the most listened to programmes. He also performs at events such as Sports Pesa Festival and MCees at countless huge events like the OLX SOMA Awards and Guinness Get Booked event.

Jalang’o is also on TV as he hosts a show called Jalang’o with the Money on KTN.In addition Jalang’o owns an events company, Arena Media.

5.Octopizzo

From the streets of Kibera to performing at Coke Studio, Octopizzo is a classic tale of from grace to grass. Aside from performing at Coke Studio, Octo was also part of the Guinness Made of Black ad that celebrated being ‘Black’.

He also makes money from performances all over the county and in other continents. As we speak Octopizzo is currently working with UNHCR and recently flew to Kakuma refugee camp to initiate a project for the youth. And we are all are how good UN money is!

6.Churchill

I hear Churchill charges an arm, a kidney and 2 legs to MC at your event, he does not come cheap. He also reportedly rakes in about 1.2 Million shillings every month from  his job on Classic 105’s breakfast show. In addition, Churchill owns Laugh Industry, the industry responsible for the Churchill show which enjoys a massive audience all over Kenya not forgetting the live audience that flocks the Carnivore Simba Salon for the live recording of Churchill Show and Churchill Raw.

7.Sarah Hassan

The only lady in this list, come on ladies, we need to do more! Sarah Hassan hosts 3 MAJOR shows, Discovery +254 on NTV, Mashariki Mix on Africa Magic and the Wedding Show on Citizen TV. Not too shabby for a 26 year old! Keep getting that money girl!
