When Eunice Njeri popped up a few years ago, she was believed to be the best musician the gospel industry has ever seen. This was true because I vividly remember in 2009 Eunice rose from shame to fame, sending a clear message in the gospel industry in Kenya that real competition was in town.
Almost six years since then, another hotshot has popped to give the gospel music a complete new and different dimension.
Gloria Muliro, Sarah K, Eunice Njeri and many more artists keep making the industry relevant every day, but with the rise of Zoe Phyllis Waithira, the industry is becoming even more relevant to the masses.
Zoe is an alumnus of the University of Nairobi who juggled between studies and selling sweaters in Gikomba to raise fees and money for her music. She is used the HELB she got from the government to record her music.
