Ghafla Exclusive: Milele FM Set To Poach Top Radio Jambo Show Host

Media poaching has been a rampant practice in the media industry in Kenya lately, with media houses luring journalists from one station to another with hefty perks, leaving other stations to search for fresh talent from elsewhere.

Early 2013 saw K24 TV making the greatest poaching ever experienced in the fourth estate fraternity in Kenya when they raided Royal Media Services and snatched them their best journalists, among them Torome Tirike, Geoffrey Wachira, Frankline Macharia and many others.

K24 is under Media Max, a media house that also owns Milele FM, who are on the spotlight this time round for raiding Radio Jambo of their mid-morning show host Sir Bramwel Mwololo.

Ghafla can exclusively reveal that Mwololo is on his way out of Radio Jambo to take over the morning show at Milele FM hosted by Maggy Waithera and Mogaka the Choir Master.

However, the deal has not been brokered as Mwololo wants to join Milele with some conditions, among them hosting the show with comedian Njoro of Churchill show.

Milele wants Mwololo to team up with Dr. Ofweneke and Nzula Makosi in the morning show as Mogaka and Maggy Waithera are demoted to the mid-morning show.

Meanwhile the station has killed the ‘Patipati’ reggae Caribbean show which has high ratings. The Sartuday night Rhumba show has also been kicked out.

Ghafla Kenya made efforts to reach out to Sir Bram for comment but our calls went unanswered.

Media Max has also poached all morning show hosts of Muuga FM for its new Meru Radio station.

Milele FM has been on the decline since the departure of Vincent Ateya from the station, a guy who commanded a high following in the morning show he hosted with Mogaka.

Is this a move aimed at reviving the station? Only time will tell.
