Ghafla Exclusive: Popular Dancehall Artiste Accused Of Ferociously Beating Up His Girlfriend And Stealing From Her (Photos)

We could blame it on culture, upbringing or religion but the increasing level of domestic  violence in Kenya is alarming and the worst part is that it’s taken with a grain of salt despite how grave the matter is. You will hear a man bragging in a bar to his cronies about how he taught his hard-headed and insubordinate wife “a lesson” and people will just listen on, riveted.

The laissez faire attitude we have towards violence in our society is a problem too, because the first thing the recipient of domestic violence is asked is, “Did you provoke him?” Violence is taken too casually making the victims think that they deserve it or its normal.

Even men are not so safe from domestic violence case in point, the Nyeri women who whooped their men into an emasculated mess of stitches. Men who get beaten by their wives are often called “cowardly” or sissies and are often asked where their nuts are and other derogatory jibes.
I think we all need to practice zero tolerance towards violence and speak up with no shame or fear when we are under attack.

One woman named Sonia tells a story of being beaten up and stolen from by Dancehall artiste Blaqy known for the song “Shake Your Money Maker” featuring reformed socialite Risper Faith.

The lady named Sonia met Blaqy at a popular club in the CBD named I Club during comedy night at the club, they became fast friends and their friendship developed a romance of sorts.

But things got sour one night when he took her from the club to his home to Umoja , and they had an argument where he beat her up leaving her with  a swollen eye.

Blaqy then went to the living room where her purse was and took the details from her ID. The following morning he demanded her phone before she left his house. But the drama doesn’t end there.

After leaving her house she claims she called up Customer Care top get her line blocked because she had a sizable amount of money in her account. She allegedly found out that a woman had called in earlier asking for a PIN change using her details. (Something which does not add up in my mind because you are usually asked for either your precious PIN or at least a secret word)

She reported the issue to the Central Police Station. Here is the O.B

Sonia and the police started a hunt for the said culprit, but he had moved out of his house without notice, even the neighbors said that he moved out hastily. They tried locating his new place but to no avail, contacting him proved futile as he kept switching off his phone.

But despite all this we managed to get hold of Blaqy who refuted this claims at first saying that she owed him 20, 000 and what he did was just withdraw the money he was owed plus a little pocket money. After much prodding Blaqy finally accepted the charges leveled against him saying that “He is just a man”

The lady on her part says that she is willing to forgive him on condition that he returns her phone and at least half of the money he stole.
