Good Morning Maina Kageni And King’ang’i? Thank You Very Much For Advancing Tribalism in Kenya, Thank You

I tuned in to Maina and King’angi in the morning this fine Monday morning, actually I didn’t tune in I was in a matatu where the station of choice was Classic 105 in the morning.

And I was scandalized by the topic of conversation in the morning ‘women many Kenyan men avoid – Kikuyu women! I was nauseated to say the least and i muttered a cold WTF under my breath as the woman slitted next to me shifted uncomfortably.

The topic of discomfiture was inspired by a Monday pull out in Standard. Maina posed these questions on his Facebook Page

“Why do Kenyan men fear marrying Kikuyu women? Here’s the startling truth – almost every man in Nairobi has dated a Kikuyu woman or has a Kikuyu girlfriend …but they never marry them. Why is that so?

Statistics also show that there’s an interestingly high number of single mums in urban centers …and most of them are Kikuyu. Why is this??

Are you a Kikuyu woman helplessly searching for a husband? You have dated them all but none wants to wife you? Are Kikuyu women unmarriageable? Shida iko wapi na akina Mumbi? Talk to me.”

As much as Maina gets people talking, I felt that this was a reach. Just a topic encouraging bashing on a certain tribe. I believe this topic was in bad taste, not because I am a proud Kikuyu woman , but because this topic will just create a further divide at a time where Kenya is in mourning, at a time when we need to stick together. Not divided on tribal shenanigans.

This was uncalled for, for someone who has such a huge listenership. Why are you feeding the demon that is tribalism which we have been trying to fight for such a long time?

Talk about your usual topics of men who stay for two weeks without bathing and their women put up with them, men whose manhood is the size of a triple A battery and women who don’t like their kids and other things which you might deem entertaining but not matters which have lead to grave consequences such as tribalism.

I think that’s overstepping! Anyhow, as you were.
