Here Is Where This Year’s Concours D’elegance And Their New TV Programme Will Be Launched
The 2016 CBA Africa Concours d’Elegance event will officially be launched at the Panafric Hotel at 6.30 p.m. on Tuesday (March 22nd) together with the Premiere of the film of the classiest event on the Kenya motor sport calendar.
The showing of the TV programme in a theater style room with a large screen will be the highlight of the evening. The function will be hosted by the Commercial Bank of Africa and Chris Pasha, the Group Head of Marketing, will deliver the key note speech and announce this year’s theme.
The forthcoming Concours will be held on September 25th at the Nairobi Racecourse and will be the 46th in the annual series organized by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club. Entries will be accepted at the launch. Among the competitors already listed are the 1966 Peugeot 404 of Arusha based motoring enthusiast Tor Allan and Leslie Carvell’s 1970 Volkswagen Beetle which she will be driving from Jinja to the Nairobi Racecourse.

TANZANIA ENTRY. The 1966 Peugeot 404 of Arusha based motoring enthusiast Tor Allan waits to be judged on the Total ramp during the 2015 CBA Africa Concours d’Elegance. This car is among the entries received for this year’s event to be held by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club at the Nairobi Racecourse on September 25th.
The Kenya contingent includes Shailesh Chandaria with a 1983 Alfa Romeo Giulietta and Ronald Nyairo who will be driving a 1967 Mercedes Benz 300 SEL along the judging line on September 25th. Ronald is among the competitors who are participating for the first time and is in contention for the prize for the best newcomer.
Maina Muturi, a Vice President of the FIM AFRICA will review the 2015 Concours d’Elegance and talk briefly about this year’s prospects. Bob Dewar, the Event Director, will comment on the regulations for 2016 and explain that the competition will be open to cars made in 2006, or earlier with the exception of buggies.
The regulations have been published on the event website www.concourskenya.com and entry forms have already been distributed to potential competitors. There are 20 classes for all makes and types of cars, pick-ups, SUVs and motorcycles. Prizes include awards for the best newcomers and cars and motorcycles appearing at the Racecourse for the first time.
