House Of Lungula Actor Adds Fifteen Kgs For Role.
Fellow writer Jeff told you about this movie a while back. It is one of those movies that I bet will get tongues wagging for months on end!
The cast is a galaxy of local stars, see them here. Now one of the actors in the movie, who by the way is holding a dress in one of the pictures I’ve asked you to check out is prolific actor Gerald Langiri. He’s the guy behind the uber popular Facebook page and website actors.co.ke.
Gerald must be Kenya’s most famous screen lawyer. I think. He has been featured on Citizen T.V. court drama Mashtaka as a lawyer. He was in Mali on NTV as, wait for it, a lawyer. Go figure. He’s now a superitendant in the new Series Maisha that I wrote about last week. Well he stars in Kenya’s first sex-themed comedy House Of Lungula, and to clinch that role he had to add weight. Now Gerald has no hang ups about calling himself chubby, if his self -debasing status updates are anything to go by. He tells me he binged on junk food for two months to add a whooping fifteen kilogrammes! I wont even tell you how much I weigh, but I’m no where near 98 kgs! Exhale. Would you add or loose weight for a role? Why you ask? It adds to the humour! Apparently flab adds to the fab, for the character atleast.

Langiri who was born and bred in Mombasa, is quite accomplished as is evident. He was nominated as one of the best Kenyan actors during the 2012 FilmBiz africa search for the best actors in Kenya. He has done several short films under the One Fine Day Films workshops and has also established himself as a Casting Director with several castings under his name. His next feature film is from One Fine Day Films and Ginger Ink titled “Veve” to be released in 2014. He is currently working on a series which should start airing soon. Also cast is the much hyped series Two Sides which is still in the pilot stages. In 2012 he produced and directed a short film titled ” The bigger man” which he submitted to the U-Film-It competition and it won third runners up.

He took up acting as a career in 2011 and left a well paying IT Manager job to pursue his passion and desires. His IT knowledge led to him starting the website www.actors.co.ke. He’s been on the forefront to set up Kenya Actors, that motivated him to set up this site.
A member of the Kenya Film Television and Producers Association, Gerald hopes that the young aspiring actors will be able to better their careers via his initiative which so far has become the leading website for anything acting in kenya with a huge following and he is the to go to guy for information on acting in kenya.
