How It Went Down at the Recent Niko Na Safaricom Live Concert

Kisumu was the second city to host the Niko Na Safaricom Live series of concerts last weekend after a successful concert that rocked Meru town last month.

The event was hosted at the Kisumu showground and featured Kenya’s most sought after artistes as well as upcoming talent in the music industry.

Kisumu residents sampled a mix of Hip hop and RnB from Camp Mulla, Afro Fusion from Sauti Soul. Jaguar rocked with his Kapuka beat while Size 8 brought on the heat with her track Fire. Jimmy Gait also hit the stage and the emcee of the evening was the talented comedian Jalang’o.

Kisumu’s own Osogo Owinyo and King of Genge Jua Cali rocked the stage as guest artistes. The show gave Kisumu residents a chance to see their favourite artistes live in concert and also served as opportunities to upcoming artistes to show case their talent.

On Friday, the Niko na Safaricom Live ambassadors visited the Kenya National Library Services Kisumu branch and donated Kshs. 50,000. They also donated Ksh 50,000 to Kibuye Primary School.

Earlier on Saturday before the big concert, they visited the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital and got to learn more about the Operation Smile campaign which was marking its twenty fifth anniversary in Kenya.

The next concert will be held in Eldoret on 20th October. Mombasa, Nakuru and Nairobi will also get a chance to sample the local musical talent on later dates.
