If You Love Hiphop, Stand Up And Celebrate The Return Of One Of Kenya’s Illest And Realest Rappers!
I suck at Sheng! No, really, my sheng is atrocious. But there is something about music that transcends language barriers. It speaks to the heart and as they sayeth, music alone may soothe the heart of the beast.
And why am I waxing poetry? Well, because that is the essence of Rap music. Rhythm and Poetry. And back in the day while I was having a torrid time in high school which I hated with every inch of my body, there was a fluttering of life in Kenya’s entertainment scene; the rap pioneers.
Sadly for them, they were way ahead of their time. The likes of the female rhyme slayer L-ness, Judge and Mwafreeka. The underground movement that sprung out of the throbbing artistic veins at WAPI while it was still at the British Council.
But most of these pioneers went silent. They were notreceived well by the then myopic media that only thought foreign music was good. But they are back now. Or atleast Judge is back. And he has an entire album for you!
Judge who was one of the hardest, grittiest and talent rappers out took a hiatus but he’s now back to blessing the mic! He will be releasing his album at Goethe Institute on the 5th of July and he will be bringing his gang of hard sopitting emcees with him.
If you are a true Kenyan hiphop fan, you don’t want to miss this one!
