In Pictures: The Faces Behind XYZ’s Characters’ Voices
The XYZ Show has grown over the years to be the premier political satire puppet show in Africa. Using puppets to poke relentless fun of Kenyan politicians, XYZ is fueled by the public’s frustration, and is the best example that freedom of speech is protected in Kenya.
But just who voices which characters in the show? Thanks to photographer Michael Khateli we can now reveal the faces behind the voices. Here we go;
Tony Mboyo voices the Uhuru Kenyatta character
Nick Odhaimbo voices Keff Joinange
XYZ Voice Director Edward Khaemba voices both Bifwoli Wakoli (L) & Mutahi Ngunyi. He is also the source of the voice for is the voice behind Mutahi Ngunyi, PLO Lumumba, Bifwoli Wakoli, Kenneth Marende, Robert Mugabe, Yoweri Museveni, the late Muammar Gadaffi and Kofi Annan
Paul Mung’ala Mbuvi does Mike Sonko’s voice
Axon Wafula is the voice behind Mwai Kibaki and William Ruto
Dennis Mutuku (R) voices the Raila Odinga character
Doreen Karua voices Martha Karua
