Is This The Next Award Winning Kenyan Movie?

The Gigantic launch of the independent Crime Thriller Wrong Number continues to stir debates in entertainment circles and Kenya in general.

The fact that 99% of the cast and crew are relatively new raises eyebrows as to how they could have “hacked it” to the level of having a grand launch that hundreds have already confirmed the attendance.

“We had our own challenges but we had to peresevere as we knew where we wanted the movie to end-in a big screen!” Co-Executive Zeph Mwangi(Bubbly) says.

The launch has generated heat all over and some fans couldnt understand why it was only charged 500/ bob. That’s a low price for a  ticket especially a local independent film.Kenyans spend thousands in other modes of entertainment and could have even parted with a 1000 for the launch.

But Mwangi Kaburugu (Producer and Writer) says that is first to ensure that the culture of going to watch a local independent film in a big screen is encouraged.

We are branding ourselves as part of the future inthe promising film industry. There after it will be easy to charge differently as we shall have a fan base that already trusts us and what we do.

Senior officials of Kenya Film Classification Board have already confirmed their attendance. They rated the film 16 years and looks like they would like to join the rest of Kenyans who will flood Alliance Francaise on 19th & 20 March to have a second look of what they rated.

Cast & crew have been spotted in high end shopping malls fitting in gowns and suits that befits a Red Carpet Launch.

“Where can one hire a nice fitting suit in town?”That was one of the lead actors Jacktone Busaka who plays Detective Morris in the film enquiring after his tailor went upcountry for a function leaving his attire half made.

Some of the actresses have gone a notch higher and online shopping is what they have been upto.

“Its abit tricky for us especially ladies,we have to be ready with at least two dresses & two pairs of shoes during the launch & screening”Koi Ngunjiri -the smart investigative journalist inthe film says.

However it is still a top secret what the two executive producers will put on including the director Phillip Cristian Ochieng.

We hope they will surprise us.
About ticketing,we can now confirm more than half the capacity is filled and the reserved ones are also many though uncleared.
The mode of transport that the cast and crew will use to the venue still remains a mystery with leaks having it that it will be of its kind in Kenya and East Africa in general..
A Facebook post from Mwangi kaburugu ,Writer and producer reads…
………………
“The way planes are “Missing in Transit’…we should revise a way to land at Alliance Française de Nairobi – Artistic and Cultural Events…for  WRONG NUMBER the Movie Premiere and Screening.I mean we dont want to miss the action as the cast & crew..”

We can only hope they will leave upto to their word!!Tickets go for 500 only and can be gotten from Alliance or KU via Agatha 0712 341 176 or Ticket Hotline 0707 555 779.

However its not all rosy and cosy at Wrong Number…we have an expose on behind the scenes that seems to generate heat in the cast & crew circles.Keep it here next!!
