Kenya National Award Winner Announced For World’s Biggest Photography Competition

Kenyan photographer Otieno Nyadimo (30) was today named as the winner of Kenya National Award, part of world’s biggest photography competition, the Sony World Photography Awards.

Nyadimo’s winning image, ‘Smile at the heavens’, was chosen as the single best photograph taken by a Kenyan photographer entered into any of the awards’ ten Open categories. 

Nyadimo, a professional photographer based in Nairobi, has won a Sony A6300 and a Carl Zeiss lens SEL1670Z. In addition, the winning image will be part of the 2016 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition at Somerset House, London from 22nd April – 8th May and will be published in the annual Sony World Photography Awards book.

Runner up positions for Kenya National Award were given to:

-2nd place – Allan Gichigi for his image titled ‘Chablis woman’ (Allan is the brother to Ghafla’s Sheila Kanja )

-3rd place – Abdallah Hassan for his image titled ‘Lost soul‘
