Kenyan Gay Society To Honour Top Journalists With Award
Let me first start by saying that i have never known that the LGBT community in Kenya holds annual galas that double up as awards events but you live and you learn.
This year is no different and amongst a plethora of categories, the one that caught my eye was the category that seeks to recognise and award journalists for how they have portrayed and tackled issues affecting homosexuals in Kenya.
But it makes sense that this marginalized and often vilified group would seek legitimacy by seeking to be portrayed as humanbeings rather than poofs and dykes.
The nominees for this years edition of the Gay and Lesbian Awards Of Kenya for the SAUTI category (Journalist of the year award for substantial, balanced reporting on LGBTI human rights issues in mainstream media are:
SAUTI – Journalist Of The Year Award for ‘substantial, balanced reporting on LGBTI human rights issues in mainstream media’

Stella Kasina ‘The Invisible Bridge’- K24
