Kenyans Hold Night Vigil At Uhuru Park For The 148 Victims Killed During Garissa Massacre (Photos)

Hundreds of Nairobians yesternight gathered at Uhuru Park to remember the victims of last Thursday’s attack at Garissa University College who were killed by Al Shabaab terror group.

A somber mood descended on Uhuru Park last night as Kenyans from all walks of life assembled to remember the 148 victims of the bloodiest terror attack since the 1998 bombing of the US embassy that also robbed the country at least 200 people.

Majority of the slain victims from the Garissa attack were mostly innocent students pursuing their ambition with the hope of making a positive impact in the country. This even makes the whole incident bitter to swallow as most people can’t comprehend why someone can just open fire on unarmed students.

Most Kenyans who turned up at Uhuru Park were wearing black t-shirts and carrying flowers. Organizers unloaded white crosses from a truck and planted them in the ground.

A temporary shrine of crosses and candles was set up and photos of the 148 victims put on display. Mourners read names of some of the victims while holding candles on their hands before finally singing the national anthem.
