Machakos ‘First Lady’ Proves That She Is More Than a ‘Trophy Wife’ (Photos)
For a long time, Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua was married to his now estranged wife Josephine Maundu. After the split that allegedly included a bitter brawl over children and wealth, he showed up with some eye-candy Lillian Ng’ang’a who many have referred to as the trophy wife.
But Lillian is not one to fit into stereotypes; she is out to show us that she can hold her own at Machakos county.
After being involved in various projects in the county, the regal first lady took her Cancer Awareness Campaign to Masinga Model Health Centre in Masinga Sub-County.
In Kenya, Cancer is ranked as the third killer disease after infectious and cardiovascular diseases and Lillian has been at the forefront in the fight against it. Her campaign seeks to create awareness, screen for the disease, build capacity for health workers to deal with it and also help patients get proper referrals.
Since the start of the campaign, thousands of people especially women have been screened with 16 suspected cases reported in Matuu and another 3 in Kathiani.
She encourages people to practice healthy lifestyles, exercise a lot and have regular checks in hospitals as cancer is curable when detected early.
Lillian was accompanied by Ministers Naomi Mutie (Health and Emergency Services) and Ruth Mutua (Education, Youth and Social Welfare) as well as Collins Sila (Chief Officer Health), MCAs led by area MCA and Leader of the Majority in the Machakos County Assembly Hon. Joshua Mwonga (Masinga Central) and Machakos Maendeleo ya Wanawake Chairlady Franciscah Mutinda.
