Matatu Driver Arraigned In Court On Suspicion of Killing Royal Media Reporter

A matatu driver today was taken to a Murang’a court on suspicion of participating in the death of two people, including Royal Media correspondent Anthony Kariga.

The first accusation levelled against David Thuo Maina, 33, was that he was driving dangerously, which led to the death of Anthony Kariga who was a reporter for Inooro FM in Murang’a county.
The second accusation was that the matatu driver was also responsible for the death of a motorbike rider, Paul Kamau.
The tragic accident occured on Wednesday on the Murang’a-Kangema road when the matatu allegedly ran into a motorbike that was carrying the RMS correspondent.
The matatu driver pleaded ‘Not Guilty’ and asked the court to release him on bail. Chief Judge Bildad Ochieng agreed to release him on a 50,000 shilling bail. The case will be resumed on June 11th.
