Meet The Game-Changing Beauty Queen From Turkana County

When you think of Turkana County, one thinks of malnourished destitute looking children, cattle rustling insecurity and other vices. The newly crowned Miss Turkana Kenya is determined to change the face of Turkana.

Born and raised in Turkana  the lass promises that her ‘victory will be Turkana County’s victory and Kenya at large. In the past, when people heard of the name Turkana, what came into their mind was drought, insecurity, cattle rustling and such vices. But this may not be the case. The fact that some parts are experiencing severe drought cannot be taken to be a true picture of the whole county. As has recently been discovered, Turkana has a potential to be the richest county in Kenya.

We already have oil, a huge water source which could supply the country for 70 years, minerals, archaeological sites, and tourist attraction sites. Serious irrigation is also taking place in places like Katilu, Lotubae, Nakwomoru among others.

My work as the Miss Tourism Turkana is based on five pillars: tourism, environment, investment, culture and beauty. I will use my position to create awareness about Turkana. Together with the County Government, we are encouraging investors to invest in our County in all areas of development.
