Meet the Oldest Inmate, She Is A 100. You Will Not Believe What She Is In For
At a hundred years, you should be lounging with you grand children, relaying stories of your long gone youth and getting pampered for surviving a century in this harsh world . For those more daring, you could go shark diving or sky diving such as adrenaline junkie Georgina Harwood.
Basically your last few years on earth should be fun, but for one Margaret Ngima she is wearing the dreaded black and white striped uniform as she is serving time for contempt of court.
Margret was charged alongside her elderly sons Peter Njue who is 72 and Angelo Gichovi who is 52 for failing to comply with a court order where they had been told to allot a 2 acre piece of land to one Justa Wachira.
Before Justa’s father died, he bought a piece of land from the Ngima and Justa was claiming what was rightfully hers.
Margret Ngima is serving 3 months at the Embu Prison and the only way she will get out is if she pays Kshs 100, 000 as a fine. Something which is not possible as she comes from a needy family.

This is beyond sad…the judge should have been merciful. She is a 100, 3 months is a lot of time behind bars for someone who is a 100. Our judicial system is seriously flawed if a century old granny is doing time while murderers, corrupt politicians and other criminals roam the streets, free.
