Meet This Kenyan Artist Who Went to High School with a Grammy Award Winner and Who Overcomes Challenges by Hearing People Fart At Night #CokeStudioAfrica

What defines a true celebrity? Is it the flashy lifestyle, being carefree and reckless or is the ego and arrogance? I tend to think it’s the weird rituals that truly set you apart.  Willow Smith for example is obsessed with snakes. Normally she has 10 sleeping in her room and some aren’t in cages. Kesha on the other hand collects her fans teeth and makes necklaces out of them.

And these rituals are not only in the west but also amongst us. Our very own Owuor Arunga, the talented trumpeter who recently won a Grammy or rather helped to win one has a couple up his sleeve. While most of us focus on doing normal things like watching a movie or going out dancing to ease pressure and overcome challenges, Owuor only finds pleasure in hearing someone farting and tripping while walking. Yes, a bit creepy and sadist but that’s his cup of tea.

In the 3 years that he has perfected his art, that’s basically what has been keeping him going and which you have to thank for the trumpet in The Heist, the Grammy award winning album by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. It is also one of the core reasons you experience all the impeccable mashups present on Coke Studio Africa which airs on Citizen TV every Sunday from 8PM.
