My Honest Review Of The New Political Drama Series “STATE HOUSE”

Sigh! Finally a Kenyan TV series that I can sit down and talk about with my fellow movie buffs. Well, I don’t really care about what you think of Kenyan movies and series. But what I know is that we must  give credit where it’s due.

“STATE HOUSE” is the name of Drama Series; written and directed by the adept filmmaker Wanuri Kahiu. The idea behind the film is to show the concealed world of what goes around the President’s residence, office and the people around him.

First of all, I like the fact that the writer actually thought out of the box and tried something fresh as much as Kenyan TV series is concerned. Don’t we all want to know what goes around the President’s life?.

Secondly, all the actors/actresses perfectly match their characters, something I have always felt that local cast and film directors don’t take into consideration when choosing characters.

From the few episodes we watched, looks like the series’ continuity is going to be awesome since the flow of the story is just A+ (Perfect) and no one wouldn’t love to follow it through to see what happens at the end.

When it comes to cinematography, though there were a few glitches, I feel like they also did a great job.

Generally before I turn this into a spoiler, I feel that this is a movie worth watching and believe me you’ll like it!

State House will show on Zuku Entertainment, channel 100 (formerly Zuku Afrika) every Monday 8:30pm, starting 3 March. The 12 episodes will be followed by a “making of” episode, in which cast, crew, producers and broadcaster all give behind the scenes insights into the production. The feature film is going to run for the next week starting tonight, Friday February 28th through Thursday March 6th at 7:30pm at Century Cinemax at Junction.
