Ngugi Wa Thiong’o Misses Out On The Nobel Prize In Literature .This is The Woman Who Beat Him To The Task
Ngugi Wa Thiong’o has been highly praised countless times as one of the most prolific writers of our time with books like Devil on the Cross, Weep Not Child and A Grain of Wheat among others under his belt.
He is recognized not only in our continent but also the world over and was even tipped for 2015 Nobel Prize in literature. The distinguished writer was nominated alongside Belarusian writer, Svetlana Alexievich, Japan’s Haruki Murakami ,Norwegian, Jon Fosse and Americans Joyce Carol Oates and Philip Roth.

Unfortunately he lost to the Belarusian, Sveltana who took home the award for her “polyphonic writings, a monument to suffering and courage in our time”

- The Nobel Prize in Physics 2015 awarded to Takaaki Kajita and Arthur B. McDonald “for the discovery of neutrino oscillations, which shows that neutrinos have mass”
- The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2015 awarded to Tomas Lindahl, Paul Modrich and Aziz Sancar “for mechanistic studies of DNA repair”
- The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2015 awarded to William C. Campbell and Satoshi Ōmura “for their discoveries concerning a novel therapy against infections caused by roundworm parasites” and Youyou Tu “for her discoveries concerning a novel therapy against Malaria”
- The Nobel Peace Prize 2015 awarded to the Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet “for its decisive contribution to the building of a pluralistic democracy in Tunisia in the wake of the Jasmine Revolution of 2011”
- While the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel 2015 was given to Angus Deaton “for his analysis of consumption, poverty, and welfare”
