NTV Suspends Larry Madowo After Defending Sacked Colleague Denis Galava

NTV has  today temporarily terminated Larry Madowo’s contract and subsequently suspended prime time news anchor over what the employer termed as gross professional misconduct and dismal perfomance , Ghafla has exclusively learnt.

This follows a series of bitter exchange between Madowo and his boss over the manner in which Daily Nation newspaper managing editor Denis Galava was dismissed . The ever charming Trend show host is on record for questioning and openly disagreeing with one of the senior bosses on social media. It is this “unprofessional misconduct” that has him locked out of the newsroom.

Ghafla has also learnt that the Larry has been summoned twice. In January, the “selfie” boy came under fierce criticism when he referred to Raila Odinga’s action after naming individuals who abetted the loss Eurobond money as mere “fart”.Keen to protect the image of the comapany, his boss summoned him where it is also reported Larry was asked to write an apology article on his column on the Daily Nation, the Frontrow in a bid to quell the evidently raging public storm.

According to the leaked email which was sent by Nation Media Group Broadcast Unit Managing Editor Linus Kaikai and copied to the human resource manager, Madowo is also accused of poor performance ,a situation that has seen geo-polls rating for the oldest Television magazine program the Trend go down. The show is now a shell of its former self after it was reduced to a laughing competition among the guests.

When contacted , Kaikai declined to speak to Ghafla as he was held up in a meeting. He however promised to call back.

It is not yet clear whether The 28-year-old alumnus of Daystar University and a former Gikomba market mandazi seller will host tonight’s Episode of the Trend show or not.

This is the second time the Nation Media Group has suspended a top employee in less than two months.Galava who was suspended and later sacked has promised a major court battle with his former employer.

Happy Fool’s Day!
