Raila Publicly Urges Fidel’s Wife To Stay. These Are The Possible Suitors He Suggested Should Inherit Her

Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga urged Fidel Odinga’s widow, Lwam Getachew Bekele, not to leave the Odingas saying there were other possible suitors for her.

Fidel Odinga’s burial sideshows saw many things being discussed among them, Lwam’s post-Fidel fate. With speculation in the air about Lwan’s future now that she had lost her husband at a young age; Raila came forward and urged the young widow to stay.

Speaking in his native Luo, Raila urged Lwan to stay saying Lwam’s in-laws could fit in Fidel’s shoes. The former PM reiterated his earlier joke (Fidel knew how to choose beautiful women) as he told the crowd there were other men within the family who could take care of Lwam.

Raila’s sentiment was repeated by his wife, Ida Odinga, who said any one taking Lwam must be good like Fidel. It was widely known Fidel used to treat his wife like a princess and that is why Fidel’s mother emphasized the person who would be taking Lwan must possess Fidel’s generous and admired qualities.

Luo culture permits a widow to be inherited by a member of the husband’s family. In most cases, it is the brother to the deceased that takes in the wife of his late sibling.

Raila further said Fidel could have passed on but his spirit lived in his son, Allay Odinga. “The king died, long live the king” Raila uttered.
