Revealed: Digital Migration Saga Takes A New Twist As CA Threatens To Annul Broadcasting Licenses Given To 3 Media Houses

The digital migration logjam seems far from being brokered after the Communication Authority of Kenya issued new threats to three media houses whose TV stations have remained unavailable after they shut them down in protest of what they feel is mistreatment from the government.

Yesterday, CA chair Mr. Wangusi wired a letter to the three media houses demanding that they go on air immediately either through using Signet or PANG.

A close source revealed to Ghafla Kenya that authorities in the three media houses are now contemplating giving in to the freshest threats because it means that if CA good its threats, they will stop existing completely.

It is reported that the situation in the three media houses offices remained a dingy one after they received the directive, with the management clearly disgusted at the latest development.

Reports reaching us also indicate that stakeholders and advertisers in the three media houses are piling pressure on the management to do something about the impasse which has threatened to boil and spill over the pot.

So what is the move forward?

Nation Media Group, Standard Media Group and Royal Media Services have no option but to give in to the already piled up pressure and go back to air as soon as possible.

Kenyans are also an irritated lot for remaining in the dark as far as information is concerned, and majority are believed to be exploring other channels including getting more and more drawn away to the already broadcasting stations like K24 and KBC.

It is time something was done lest the situation becomes unbearable.
