Revealed: This Is How Milele FM Forced Radio Citizen To Re-schedule Its Mambo Mseto Show
Competition is real and if you cannot stand up to it, you have no place in society. From relationships to businesses to academics to almost everything, competition is what drives us, it is what keeps us going and it is what brings the best out of us.
This explains why their are a number of radio stations, TV stations, websites, blogs, schools, businesses, churches, investments, et al.
Radio Station has always been ranked as the most listened to radio station in Kenya and second in Africa.
All this is possible thanks to the management and the programmes it runs day in, day out. Among the programmes raking in colossal sums of money and bigger listener-ship is Mzazi Willy M Tuva’s Mambo Mseto.
It is one of the shows that have seen artistes rise from rags to riches, thanks to the platform the show offers them across East Africa.
Mzazi Tuva himself is one of the most revered radio personalities across East Africa, thanks to his prowess in the entertainment industry. His voice and masterly of the Swahili language coupled with fantastic vocals have earned him a name among his listeners, with many seeing him as the father of entertainment in East Africa.

However, one problem was in the offing and if Royal Media Management had not spotted it in advance, Mambo Mseto would be on its death-bed right now.
Competition is the word. It was becoming increasingly stiff and Tuva and his show had to find a way of beating this competition.
A close source who works with the Royal Media Services confided to me early today that Radio Citizen’s closest rival, Uhuru Kenyatta’s Milele FM, was giving Radio Citizen a run for their money. It still does to date.
Milele FM runs a similar show called Bangaiza hosted by Allan Wakoli and Msupa Nzula Makosi. Bangaiza is another very popular show which plays East African music and which also gives artistes from the region a platform to showcase their talent.
Bangaiza had shifted from 1 pm to 12 noon and this was seen as being detrimental to Mambo Mseto.
There is also a similar show run by Kazungu Mwinyi on KBC Radio. Those who think KBC has no listernership should rescind their thoughts. Kazungu’s show is another one that was posing a threat to Tuva’s Mambo Mseto.
Even though Radio Maisha’s Konnect stills airs from 1 pm, it is another show that poses a big threat to Tuva’s Mambo Mseto. This is so because of the talented voices behind the show in Mwende Macharia, Clemmo and DJ Gitz.
The trio have transformed Konnect completely since the dismissal of Peter Adams in unclear circumstances. At first we thought Adams’ dismissal was the beginning of the end of the rebranded Izi Vipi show, but Mwende and her counterparts have done a great job to make Konnect one of the most listened to radio show.
My source tells me that the Royal Media Services fraternity was also very relieved when Peter Adams’ Izi Vipi Xtra was scrapped from KTN as it posed a threat to Mseto Xtra aired on Citizen TV.
Back to the main point, Mambo Msembo had to shift from 1 pm to 12 noon to beat competition from Milele FM’s Bangaiza and Kazungu Mwinyi’s Top Mashariki on KBC.
Nzula Makosi and Allan Wakoli are a perfect match and the two are really giving Tuva a run for his money. Only really competition will work.
