I have never been a great fan of reggae music, apart from a few hits by Glen Washington and Gregory Isaacs that made my primary school days( because my brother who was in high school then, was a big fan) Well me and reggae fell out soon after joining campus, I adopted a more crazier genre (to go with my alter ego) and it has been love all along. But I do admit that I know some reggae artists like R Kelly and Bruno Mars.. Both who have really soulful music (lol)
Ok. To business, In the past year, it was impossible to talk about reggae without bringing a certain deadlocked guy, Mbusii (or Mbusii-deh) into the picture. He had us hypnotized by his mastery of the sheng patois, his knowledge of the genre and his uncanny ability to relate with the common citizen, the sufferer, Like loved to call the unemployed guys.
But one year Is a long time,and times have changed. We could call Mbusii Kryptonite, but Superman has made his debut, And Kryptonite is no more. He has been thrashed, Is being thrashed and will continue being thrashed by the new king of Reggae, the witty 23 year old bundle of insane creativity, Kelvin Ndung’u, otherwise known as Kelvin Migongo or Kijana Patpaat. He is not just pat patting reggae at Milele Fm, He is Murdering the airwaves!

Kelvin started as a sports commentator at Milele Fm, when the management introduced the reggae show later on, he was put on it with a fellow presenter, and Since then he has been getting better every Saturday. In just months he has managed to gather a legion of fans who wait patiently for his show that starts from 10 to 2. The show that he proudly calls “Caribbean connections” Or Simply “Kashuma” has been rated as Kenya’s best Reggae show.

He works on the show with DJ Slim 254, who was crowned as the Kenyan Dj Of the Year at Bingwa Music Awards last Saturday. Kelvin invited us last Saturday to headline his show, he let us in on his future plans, he told us that he plans to start a Tv show soon. But before then, he promises to keep being the best reggae host of all time.
