RIHANNA AND AVRIL? WHAT’S THAT ABOUT?!
Ok so in music and entertainment, it is close to impossible to avoid drawing parallels between emcees.
And in the same vein, we can draw parallels between our artists and foreign celebrities. Humour me for a minute as i delve down this discourse.
To start us off, we have:

Ukoo Flani and Wu-Tang.
Both crews revolutionized the way hiphop was done in their respective countries and as to date both crews still command immense respect from the hiphop heads in their countries.
Under the guidance of the RZA, Wu-Tang went for a different sound that up to date is considered classic. K’Shaka also opted for a different way of doing Kenyan Hiphop and have gone on to inspire local rap groups.
Abbass and ODB
Granted, ODB was a member of Wu Tang but his eclectic style can only be compared and contrasted effectively with K-South’s Abbass. Osiris was always going off on a tangent on the instrumentals in a mad manner but his madness always had a method to it that sounded like true magic. Same thing with Kenya’s big man Abbass. Whether he’s howling on a track or doing something unexpected like ad libbing, it always comes off as pure music and that is a tough one to pull off.

Avril and Rihanna
While the bad girl part can be contested and hotly at that, controversy has dogged both. Avril’s notorious pics did alot to raise her profile just as Rihanna’s bad girl persona after her split with Chris Brown has done her’s.
Both are sultry singers, both are rather comely and easy on the eyes and both have a way with men’s hormone levels.
Avril has done alot to shed the ghosts that haunt her from her past but Rihanna has embraced hers. Still, the parallel, can be struck.

Just a Band and Black Eyed Peas
When B.E.P were starting out, they were on the Q.T and the hush hush. But they went mainstream and blew up. Likewise J.A.B who had a small following of dedicated fans when they started out but have now grown to not just national but just international reknown.
J.A.B can only grow bigger and follow in the footsteps of one of the world’s biggest groups B.E.P!

Octopizzo and 50 Cent
When Fiddy came out, he was taking shots at everyone demanding respect. Octo came out and took shots at Abbass. And he didn’t hold back. And his hard hitting and gritty lines have everyone sitting up and acknowledging his lyrical prowess.
And what of the business acumen? Fiddy has been everywhere investing in everything and Octo has now been bitten by the business bug and has a clothing line aswell as a line of condoms.

Camp Mulla’s K’Cous and Kanye West
K’Cous raps and produces. Kanye raps and produces. Problem? I thought not! And to top it all off, both have a borderline obsession with their wardrobes. Add a pinch of confidence and a tad of controversy to the mix and voila! You have Kanye in K’Cous.

Muthoni DQ and Missy Elliot
Think about it, both are eclectic and both are singers cum rappers and they both do experimental music and with brilliant outcomes. Plus both are businesswomen to boot.
