S.K Macharia Owns Half Of THE ENTIRE RADIO INDUSTRY
In the Kenya Advertising Research Foundation’s(KARF) Radio report for Q1 2012, it was revealed that Royal Media Services'(RMS) chain of radio stations owns a combined total of 47% of the market share of radio stations in Kenya. Here is the breakdown of the RMS market share station by station:
Radio Citizen – 17%
Inooro FM – 7%
Ramogi FM – 6%
Musyi FM – 5%
Egesa FM – 2%
Muuga FM – 2%
Chamgei FM – 3%
Wimwaro FM – 2%
Bahari FM – 1%
Hot 96 – 1%
Mulembe FM – 1%

S.K Macharia is the owner of Royal Media Services. This tremendous market penetration is a great achievement for the man who’s media efforts were famously opposed in court by the Moi administration. His rise was facilitated by the freedom of press enabled by the Kibaki government in 2002.
