Sauti Sol’s ‘Sura Yako’ Now Spreads It’s Wings Beyond Africa

New York based DJ Xpect has released an Afro EDM remix to Sauti Sol’s ‘Sura Yako’ for the international market. DJ Xpect rocked the Smirnoff New Year’s party at Crayfish, after which he’s spent several weeks in Kenya while researching new Kenyan music.

He fell in love with ‘Sura Yako’ after hearing it for the first time a few weeks ago. Happy to be back to his roots in Africa, Xpect is exploring music from the continent and seeing how he can connect it to the mainstream American music scene. He is currently shooting videos for some of his singles during his Kenyan tour.

He is one of first DJs of African descent to spin a hip hop mix-show on US radio. He is also the only ethnically African DJ to have graced tables live for a hip-hop legend: KRS One. He’s worked on several tracks, still in process, that have been submitted to big acts. He’s working to release two EP projects in 2015—an Electronic Dance Music EP called Soho Grey and a future RnB/TrapNB EP under the Moniker “Broadway Pete”.
