Something Big, Bigger Than Corazon’s Behind Going Down This Month and this is Why You Should be Part of It #AirtelDXD
If you’ve been keeping it Ghafla; are you loyal by the way? Then you must be aware of the Something big, something beautiful and something rewarding bound to happen this year, which we were first to highlight.
We’ll we’ve finally gotten the details so sit tight, relax and prepare to be blown away. Airtel, you know your favorite telecommunication company, which brought you the sensational Airtel Trace Star has done it yet again bringing you something even more spectacular and grand. I’m thinking something bigger than Corazon’s behind but I digress……
They have partnered with UP magazine to launch a first of its kind award ceremony that looks at awarding key change makers in Kenya who use solution based thinking to overcome challenges, offer relevant solutions to improve people’s lives.
So if you’re reading this and you think you’re smart enough to change the world then brace yourself for, wait for it….wait for it…..Design Thinking(DXD-Disruption by Design) awards.
The awards look forward to rewarding innovative elements in Kenyan society which stretch from architectural design, communications design, fashion design, interactive design focusing on web design, tech design and green design; basically human based designs that improve life in general.
Why is interesting? Because for the first time in Kenya we get to experience something more innovative which delves away from acting, singing or even modelling. Even that geek who nobody cares about will finally get acknowledged.
Airtel believes that by recognizing and highlighting disruptive designers, they’ll be able to bring discussion of design, design thinking and solution based approaches to the fore with the Kenyan public and as a result spark more human centered and sustainable design led options for more people and access and implement.
The selection criteria for all of the awards are excellence, innovation and enhancement of the quality of life. Individual candidates must be over 18 and citizens or long-term residents of Kenya. Corporations and institutions must have their headquarters in Kenya.. Corporations and institutions on the other hand must have their headquarters in Kenya. Honorees will be selected for a body of realized work and not for any specific project.
And to ensure fairness, candidates will be proposed by an official nominating committee after they’ll be invited to submit materials for a jury’s review. We will definitely communicate when the entries are to be made. After they’re done with that, there will also be people’s choice award for which the public will be required to vote.
The submissions will eventually be vetted and the ultimate winner will be announced on the gala night in November. Submissions and entries will close on August 31st.
Clearly nothing this big has happened since Corazon’s butt came into the limelight (*slight cough).
