Something Big, Something Destined to Shake Up the Whole Industry is Going Down Today. Find Out What

One Richie Spice once said that education is the key and truth be told, it truly is; ask your favourite celebrity and you’ll get just what I mean. Education is that needed boost that will help you navigate the world and extract you from the itching thorns of poverty something that Equity totally understands.

Through the wings to fly program which is a comprehensive secondary school scholarship support program for top performing but needy students in sub counties across Kenya, they are taking it a notch higher.

Quite a noble initiative, it provides financial support and leadership empowerment tools to the scholarship beneficiaries where they receive support for all their needs. I’m talking tuition, accommodation, books, uniform and transport to and from school, shopping and pocket money while attending school for the 4 years. Basically they set you up to fly and conquer the world.

Targeting high achieving yet needy students ranked amongst the top fifth percentile in terms of performance in the districts where Equity bank has a branch, it has grown overtime and as per now 10,377 candidates are set to benefit.

And awareness and mobilization is pretty simple as it is created through very simple channels such as chief’s barazas, local churches and mosques announcements on radio and through online platforms like ours.

They aim to pick the best as the beneficiaries are picked through a very rigorous process which is conducted by the District Scholarship Selection Board ( DSSB). This comprises of 13 local representatives and stakeholders who are experts in various fields.

If you’re eligible and you pass through the set parameters, then you’re ready to go. And the benefits, my gaaad! Apart from receiving good education you’re destined to benefit massively in leadership and mentoring which is very important in a successful career.

And award ceremony for this year’s beneficiaries is going down today and Ghafla would like you to be part of it. As the saying goes, change always starts with you.
