Sonko Responds To Claims That He Bribed Mwanahamisi Hamadi And Swaleh Mdoe With 2 Million Kshs To Kill A Story

About 2 weeks ago, the biggest scandal in the media industry broke out.

Swaleh Mdoe, Mwanahamisi Hamadi and other people in the Citizen TV Kiswahili news desk were sent home over allegations that they had received a 2 Million Kshs bribe.

According to the blogosphere and social media, Sonko was said to be the ‘disher ’ of the said  bribe as he allegedly wanted them to kill an unflattering story about him. The story was about him being booed severally in Kajiado.
He has responded to these claims refuting allegations that he bribed the team, putting the blame solely on his malicious political adversaries.

Speaking to Standard, Sonko said that “I’m getting tired of my opponents coming up with bogus stories. The truth of the matter is that I delivered the Rescue Team documentary to be aired, but soon realised that somebody was tampering with the content. I did not need any favours. I paid over half a million shillings, why would anyone want to change that content?”he said
