The Appalling Reactions to the Alleged Raping Of a Former Journalist by an Imenti MP Will Make You Lose Hope for This Country

It breaks my heart when I see a victim turned into the villain. Remember how the poor woman in the Githurai 45 bound bus was questioned about being at the wrong place at the wrong time, ‘playing coyly’ with the makangas and thus being subjected to assault?

I believe that’s the problem with this country and other countries in the world over, the victim being painted as a villain. Victims of rape are accused of being ‘too seductive’, skimpily dressed or in the case of India, not shutting up while they get raped. These reasons and many others is the reasons victims chose to suffer in silence, because they do not want to be condemned or slut shamed, while the real villain continues to pillage innocence and dignity away from others.

Recently a woman confessed to being subjected to being raped by an MP  after being subjected to a HIV test and the reactions to the rape allegations were appalling:
