The Best And Worst Kenyan Songs Produced In 2014 (Part 2)

Continued from: Part 1

2014 has been a very productive year for many musicians as they saw their careers blossom and flourish immensely. Nice songs that have underlined the year 2014 have been produced, plunging artistes into various nominations and wins, building a name for Kenya in the international scene and attracting renowned celebrities and artistes who have done collabos with our own artistes.

However, there are those who as much as they tried and put everything at their disposal into the music, failed to convince the masses with their releases.

These are not my words but according to the respondents I asked for an opinion.

Pombe Bangi got the highest number of mentions as one of the worst videos ever produced in Kenya. In fact it was banned outright upon its release. Rajayjay had produced a worse video than Sauti Sol’s Nishike.

The ratchetness and erosion of morals in the video was enough to send it parking. Its producers were just starters trying to sell a name for themselves in the music industry. They failed terribly. They were hated. Despised. Looked down upon. That is all they could. They have never managed to release another song since the ban.

Habida’s Superwoman was also mentioned as another poor work of art from the sexy singer. The video was released two weeks ago but many have already discredited it and called it a big miss. This may not go down well with the singer but fans have demanded that you up your game Habida. Up it up!

Some of the respondents also mentioned Jaguar’s One Centimetre as another miss. Really? This is debatable but Swahilis say ‘Wengi Wape’. Ironically, what many consider as a miss is Deputy President William Ruto’s favourite song from Jaguar.

Other songs that have been described as misses include I am blessed by Hopekid, Blaqy’s Dance Together, Sauti Sol’s Sura Yako Remix with Iyanya, Kenrazy’s Mbilikimo Mkora , Mbali by Nonini ft Wyre and Don’t Stop by Jay A ft Tiana.

This, however, does not mean that these artistes are done. 2015 is just around the corner. They have a chance to up their game.
