This Is a Film You Should All Watch

Relief is a short film project; in stop motion animation; set in defunct Nairobi in the year 2034 – a time when the East African Federation has been realized.

The project is a Mizani Pictures production that has brought together a team of young, talented and passionate individuals from the Kenyan film and TV industry who found themselves compelled to be part of the change today’s society is desperately looking for.

Relief is the story of Samora, a young hustler working as a motorcycle deliveryman in Nairobi. Samora lives in a time that has the African people completely dependent on foreign donations to survive. Samora’s job has him smuggling relief food as part of a cartel that has some ethnic communities receiving sufficient food while others starve. Its business as usual until Samora is faced with the decision to follow the status quo or sacrifice himself for the freedom his society desperately needs.

Mizani Pictures is a group of passionate filmmakers whose goal is to make a short film every month. For Relief however, Mizani Pictures called in ardent creative’s who have worked on shows such as The XYZ Show (Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards winner for Best TV series, 2013), Mama Duka (Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards winner for -Best indigenous language Swahili, 2014), comic & series Shujaaz.FM (winner of the 2014 International Digital Emmy, for the children and youth category, 2012 and 2014), and Churchill Live (a multiple award-winning comedy show).

The film is currently in the pre-production phase with production set to take place in July 2014. Online fundraising for the production is currently ongoing at M-changa and IndieGogo.

Relief hopes to rekindle in Kenyans the resilience of our founding fathers as we take back our nation, one film at a time.
