This Is the Reason Why Donkeys in Wajir Are Walking Around In ‘Diapers’
The Waswahili once said “Ukistaajabu ya Musa hujayaona ya Firauni and Wajir donkeys showed us what ya Firauni exactly is as they stepped out in diapers.
According to authorities in Wajir, donkeys in that area must always be strapped when they hit the road to avoid popping on the newly-constructed tarmac.
In a notice issued to the public, the town administrator wrote:
The county government of Wajir appreciates the contribution of the donkey cart operators to the economy of Wajir
However the town must be kept clean at all times. In view of the above you are directed to manage your donkey poop (faeces) to avoid poop all over the tarmac roads creating a nuisance. You are directed to attach a bag on the back of your donkey to collect all faeces.
The decree then went on to state that donkeys would not be allowed to enter the town without the said ‘diapers’.
Strange as this rule may be donkey cart operators in Wajir have complied and donkeys are now operating in Wajir with sacks and other pieces of clothing attached to the donkeys’ backs.
