Aside from disseminating information, one of the roles of a journalist is giving a voice to the voiceless. This however sometimes comes at a price, sometimes your psychological well-being and safety is the price you are forced to pay.

Julie Gichuru ran a chilling story of the women in Awasi and how they are taken advantage of by sex predators .Women in that region have to give sexual favours in return for water, a scarce commodity in the region. And if you refuse to give in to this sex pests, you had to go on your own to fetch water in ungodly hours. Women fetching water at the wee hours of the morning often fall prey to sexual predators that hide in the bushes like a creepy jungle cat.

Any person in their right mind would see the importance of highlighting this story, because these defenceless women are being taken advantage of in the right way, but not some backward people.
