This is Why Citizen TV’s #OpinionCourt is Trending on Twitter

Last night Citizen TV’s news anchor Anne Kiguta hosted cabinet secretary for Health Mr. James Macharia to discuss Ebola counter measures and this discussion has elicited a lot of reactions to gain a top spot among the most trending items on twitter.

Macharia’s stand to defend the move by national carrier not to abort flight to the affected West African nations is the one that is drawing a lot of people to air their frustrations. Macharia defends his stand arguing that Ethiopian Airways and Rwanda Air are still flying to West Africa so if Kenya Airways was to stop flying to West Africa, passengers would still slip into the Country through Adis Ababa or Kigali. He further insisted that a blanket ban on flight would not have a big outcome in curbing the spread of Ebola. The cabinet secretary also stated that the country was ranked by World Health Organization as a level 2 nation therefore the risk of Ebola was very minimal; he later revealed that the country was sending two doctors to Monrovia in Liberia and Free Town in Sierra Leone to assess the situation on the ground.

Well here is what really made people to talk on twitter; first thing first many people think the Cabinet secretary does not understand the meaning of the phrase ‘Prevention is better than cure’. They do not see the meaning of the national carrier to keep on flying to West Africa, accidentally slip the dead virus in the country then start grappling with the menace of Ebola. Actually the Cabinet secretary said in case of any incident of Ebola infection surfacing in the country; the government would administer Ebola experimental vaccine Zmapp to patients with acute symptoms of the Virus.
